Artex removal in Heart's Delight

FAQs for Heart's Delight

Do you cover Heart's Delight and the area around Sittingbourne station?

Yes, we cover Heart's Delight and the area towards Sittingbourne station, about 1.4 miles north-east.

Is the Artex in my Heart's Delight home asbestos?

Some older coatings do, and many do not. Testing a sample is the only way to know.

Do you need a licence to remove Artex?

Normally not: HSE treats textured coating work as normally non-licensed, though large steam or gel jobs are notifiable.

Should I take the ceiling down instead?

Both work; it depends on the room. We will advise for each room.

Could my home contain asbestos?

You can’t tell by eye. A sample analysed in a laboratory is the reliable way to find out, and anything from before 2000 is worth checking.

Can you quote from photos?

Clear photos and measurements are often enough; otherwise we will arrange a visit.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to give us access to the areas involved.

Do you work on commercial premises?

Yes: shops, offices, industrial units and community buildings as well as homes. The duty holder should be able to share the asbestos register.

Landlords, managing agents and employers

Landlords of single homes don’t have the same duty to manage as non-domestic duty holders, but anyone working on the property still needs to know about asbestos.

If you manage or own a block in Heart's Delight, the register for shared areas needs keeping current and sharing with trades.

Which option is right?

A low price may mean shortcuts, which releases fibres. Ask about the method and the waste. There is no one-size price, as every job differs. Our guides list published price ranges from other companies, with sources.

Home testing kits exist, but you have to disturb the material to use one. HSE advises that samples are best taken by a competent person.
