Asbestos help in Hare Hatch
Asbestos testing in Hare Hatch
The regulations require asbestos analysis to be done by an accredited laboratory. We use an accredited laboratory for every sample. Whether it’s Artex ceilings before plastering, sanding or drilling and single materials in rented homes between tenancies, we deal with textured ceilings, garage roof sheets and flue pipes.
Village homes in towns and villages like Hare Hatch often mix old and newer materials, so testing each one is the only way to be sure. If you are unsure what you need, ask: we will recommend a test, a survey or removal, whichever fits.

The scope of asbestos testing
To be clear about the scope:
- Clearance air testing after licensed work is done by an independent UKAS-accredited analyst
- Photos cannot confirm asbestos
- If the material is in a hard-to-reach place, access may need planning
Not sure what you need? Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.
What we deal with
- Bitumen adhesive
- Water tanks
- Pipe lagging
- Panels behind heaters
- Flue pipes
- Artex and textured ceilings
- Soffit boards
- Garage roof sheets
- Roof felt
- Floor tiles
Can I do it myself?
Asbestos waste can’t go in household bins, recycling or skips. It has to go to a site that accepts it, and some councils accept small amounts from residents by arrangement.
HSE advises the public not to repair or remove asbestos themselves. Higher-risk materials such as lagging, sprayed coatings and most insulating board must only be dealt with by an HSE-licensed contractor.
Hare Hatch: your questions answered
Do you come out to small villages like Hare Hatch?
We do: small villages are covered too. Tell us about access and parking.
Is asbestos common in Hare Hatch homes?
It depends on its age and history: asbestos was used until the 1999 ban, so older homes and older alterations in Hare Hatch can contain it. Look at garage roofs, textured ceilings, old floor tiles, soffits and flues.
When can you start?
Dates are agreed once the quote is accepted. Some work has to be notified to the enforcing authority first, which affects timing.
Can you quote from photos?
Many jobs can be quoted from photos, but larger or unclear jobs may need a visit.
Can I put asbestos in a skip?
No: asbestos waste is hazardous and cannot go in skips, bins or recycling. It has to go to a site that accepts it, with the right paperwork.
Which asbestos work needs a licence?
Higher-risk materials need an HSE-licensed contractor. Cement and textured coatings typically aren’t licensed.
I think I’ve damaged asbestos. What now?
Leave the area, keep others out and close the door if you can. Don’t try to clean up the debris yourself, and ask for advice; your GP can advise if you are worried about your health.
Do I need a test or a survey?
A test answers the question for the materials sampled; a survey looks at everything in scope, including things you hadn’t spotted.
What affects the price in Hare Hatch
Our quotes take into account:
- The number of materials to sample
- Material and condition
- The type of survey you need
- Access to the area
The cost of asbestos testing depends on the job: the materials, the amount, access and what paperwork is needed. We quote each job individually.
Photos that help
Good photos help us plan and quote. Take them without disturbing anything:
- A close-up from a safe distance
- The parking area
- An idea of size
- The access route
Photos taken from a safe distance are fine: don’t touch the material, just send them through our quote form.
What happens next
The sample point is sealed when we take the sample, so it’s safe while you wait.
Keeping things safe:
- Do not touch it before we arrive
- Let us know what you want to do next
- Not sure between a test and a survey? Ask
- Photos of the material help us plan
What to avoid
Test before booking the builders, so you can plan properly.
Keep everyone away from damaged material, and don’t sweep or vacuum up debris.
The process
If we see anything else suspicious, we will tell you, so you can decide whether to test them too. We keep the work area clear of other people while we work, so children and pets should be kept elsewhere.
- Tell us what the material is, where it is, and send a photo if you can
- We quote for the samples needed
- Each sample is taken carefully and sealed
- An accredited laboratory carries out the analysis
- We send the result and explain your options
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know where we can park
- Warn neighbours if needed
- Clear belongings, but leave the material alone
Ask for a quote
Tell us about the material, its location and your plans. Then use our quote form or call 07833 053 749.
