How asbestos garage roof removal works in RG26
Corrugated asbestos cement roofs are common on older garages, including around RG26. We remove the sheets whole, damp and wrapped, and dispose of them at a permitted site, with a consignment note for your records. People often contact us about garages due a new roof and lean-to roofs, including corrugated roof sheets, cement wall panels and bargeboards.
We wear disposable coveralls and respirators throughout, and keep the area clear of everyone else.
- Give us the size of the garage and the access
- We confirm the roof is asbestos cement, testing a sample if needed
- You get a written quote, and we agree a date that suits your new roof
- We wet the sheets, undo the fixings and lower each sheet whole
- The sheets are wrapped and taken to a permitted site, and you get the paperwork
What it costs in RG26
The cost of garage roof removal depends on the job: the materials, the amount, access and what paperwork is needed. We quote each job individually.
Why people choose us

Garage roof removal in RG26
Garages across RG26, from Tadley, Rooksdown and Bramley to 20 villages and hamlets, often have corrugated cement roofs from before 2000. In towns they’re often in blocks; in villages, alongside outbuildings.
Tadley: Garages on busy roads like the A340 and B3051 need loading planned in advance. Across Tadley, garages and outbuildings may date from before 2000. In December, it’s dark in Tadley by about 4:00pm, so we start early on winter roof jobs.
DIY and asbestos
Never put asbestos in a bin or skip. It has to go to a site that accepts it, and some councils accept small amounts from residents by arrangement.
Sanding, drilling, cutting and jet-washing are the worst things you can do to asbestos materials, so avoid them completely.
Responsibilities for owners
Contractors working for you need asbestos information before they start. HSE regularly reminds owners and trades of it.
If you are responsible for a non-domestic building or the common parts of flats in RG26, you have a duty to manage asbestos under regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. That means finding it, assessing it, recording it and planning how to manage it.
What affects the price in RG26
Our quotes take into account:
- How much there is
- How much waste there is
- Whether the work is non-licensed, notifiable or licensed
- How easy it is to reach
There is no one-size price, as every job differs. Our guides list published price ranges from other companies, with sources.
Photos that help
A few photos can save a site visit:
- Any labels or markings, if you can see them safely
- An overall view
- The route in: gates, steps, stairs or the loft hatch
- Where we could park
Not sure what you need? Send photos through our quote form, or phone 07833 053 749 and describe the problem, and we’ll advise.
Afterwards
Share the paperwork with your builder.
- Send photos of the whole garage and the access
- File the waste paperwork
- Let neighbours know beforehand
- Book your roofer in advance
Keep children and pets away from broken pieces.
Don’t store anything on the roof or lean ladders against brittle sheets.
Choosing the right option
Thinking of doing it yourself? HSE’s advice to the public is not to try to remove asbestos yourself, and the roof is fragile, so there’s a serious falls risk too.

Questions from RG26
Can you help a business or landlord?
We do. We work for landlords, managing agents, employers and contractors as well as homeowners.
Can you advise before I buy a property?
Yes. A pre-purchase survey tells you what’s there before you exchange, with the seller’s permission.
How quickly can you come out?
Dates are agreed once the quote is accepted. Some work has to be notified to the enforcing authority first, which affects timing.
What if my house is newer?
Homes built after 2000 shouldn’t contain asbestos, as it was banned in 1999.
How do I know if my garage roof is asbestos?
If it’s grey corrugated sheeting on a garage built before 2000, it may be, but you cannot be sure by looking. A sample test will tell you.
Could my home contain asbestos?
Looking will not tell you. Laboratory analysis of a sample gives the answer, especially in buildings from before 2000.
Can you remove the whole garage?
We can remove cement wall panels too. Brick walls and bases need a builder or demolition contractor.
- Nothing removed blind: unknown materials are tested first
- Done to the regulations: HSE guidance and CAR 2012
- Paperwork for your records: reports, lab results and consignment notes
- Asbestos waste double-bagged or wrapped and taken to a permitted site
