About asbestos garage roof removal in SW19
The sheets are unbolted and lowered, never broken or dropped, since broken cement releases fibres. Typical materials include corrugated roof sheets, ridge pieces and downpipes, and typical jobs are garages in a row or block and cracked, mossy or leaking roofs.
In strong wind or heavy rain, we may have to stop, because safety comes first.
- Describe the garage
- We work out how to reach the roof safely
- We agree a date that fits your new roof
- We take the roof off safely
- You get the waste paperwork

Garages we deal with in SW19
Across SW19, we remove roofs from single garages, doubles, blocks and lean-tos, in Wimbledon, Putney and Colliers Wood and its smaller places.
Wimbledon: Near open spaces such as Henman Hill, some larger plots have more than one outbuilding, which can be dealt with together. Older houses in Wimbledon, near St. Mark's Church or elsewhere, may have garages or outbuildings added before 2000, sometimes with cement sheet roofs. We plan garage roof jobs in Wimbledon for daylight: sunset is about 3:55pm in December and about 9:20pm in June.
What’s included, and what isn’t
Every job has limits; these are the usual ones:
- Brick walls and slabs are a builder’s job
- Removal in strong wind is postponed for safety
- Block garages may involve several owners or a landlord
What it costs
Our quotes take into account:
- Access: height, lofts, steps and space
- The quantity or area
- The category of work
- What the material is and its state
Compare what each quote includes, not just the total: scope, method, waste disposal and paperwork.
What to photograph
When you send photos, these help most:
- A clear close-up
- Labels, if any
- How we’d reach it
- An idea of size
Photos taken from a safe distance are fine: do not touch the material, just send them through our quote form.
Should you do it yourself?
Asbestos waste cannot go in household bins, recycling or skips. It must go to a permitted site; check with your council about small amounts.
Working on a fragile asbestos cement roof is dangerous in itself, as well as an asbestos risk, so never climb onto one.
What happens next
The garage is left open to the weather until the new roof goes on, so book the new roof in good time.
- Photos of the garage and the way in help
- Plan the new roof before removal
- Let neighbours know beforehand
- Give us a rough size
Do not store anything on the roof or lean ladders against brittle sheets.
Never cut or break the sheets.
Materials, one by one
Wall panels
Some garages have cement wall panels as well.
Corrugated sheets
The sheets are wrapped in heavy polythene for disposal.
Questions from SW19
Can you remove the whole garage?
Cement wall panels can be removed in the same way as the roof sheets. Brickwork is a builder’s job.
Where do the sheets go?
Each sheet is wrapped, labelled and taken away for disposal at a permitted site.
Can you advise before I buy a property?
Yes. A pre-purchase survey tells you what’s there before you exchange, with the seller’s permission.
When can you start?
Dates are agreed once the quote is accepted. Notifiable jobs cannot start until they’ve been notified.
Do you need to see it before quoting?
Clear photos and measurements are often enough; otherwise we will arrange a visit.
Do I need a test or a survey?
Testing covers particular materials, while a survey covers everything in scope. Before building work, you normally need a survey.
How do I get a quote?
Just ring 07833 053 749, or send the details through our contact page. Tell us the postcode, what the material is and where, and send photos if you can.
- Survey or test first when it isn’t clear what a material is
- Planned to HSE guidance and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
- Written paperwork: reports, results and waste consignment notes
- Legal disposal at a permitted site, with a consignment note
