About our asbestos removal in Cyprus
Higher-risk materials such as pipe lagging, sprayed coatings and most insulating board are licensed work, and has to be done by an HSE-licensed contractor. We’ll tell you if your job in Cyprus falls into that category. Typical jobs include old flues and old floor tiles and black adhesive, including gutters and downpipes, textured coatings and flue pipes.
In London neighbourhoods like Cyprus, garages and outbuildings are often reached through the house or a rear lane, so we plan how to get the waste out. If you’re unsure what you need, ask: we’ll recommend a test, a survey or removal, whichever fits.

Cyprus properties and asbestos removal
Cyprus is about 2 miles east of Canning Town, in Greater London. Cyprus has a mix of older and newer buildings, and anything from before 2000 may contain asbestos. Cyprus is one of 764 towns and villages in Greater London where we work. Our nearest city page is London, about 7 miles away.
For non-domestic buildings like Winsor Primary School, removal is planned with the duty holder and timed for when the area is empty. Landlords near Woolwich station often time removal for when a property is empty.
We carry out removal jobs all over the E6 and E16 postcode area and the streets around it. Whether your property is on Strait Road, Harper Road and Trader Road or a nearby road, we can help. For properties just outside Cyprus, we cover Beckton (1 mile north-east), North Woolwich (1 mile south), Royal Docks (1 mile west), East Ham (1 mile north) and Custom House (1 mile west). Larger places within reach include London (7 miles west), City of Westminster (9 miles west), Marylebone (9 miles west), Kensington (11 miles west), St Pancras (8 miles west) and Shoreditch (6 miles west).
As a London location, Cyprus is inside the ULEZ, and parking and loading need planning: tell us about parking, permits and access when you ask for a quote.
Well-known places in the area include Greenwich Castle (3.6 miles south-west) and North Woolwich Old Station Museum (0.7 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Gilbert's Pit.
- Schools near Cyprus include London Design and Engineering UTC (within half a mile south-west) and Oasis Academy Silvertown (0.6 miles south)
- Other local spots include East Ham (1.6 miles north)
Afterwards
If other asbestos remains in the building, it should still be recorded and managed, so future trades know about it.
Once you know what’s there, a few simple habits help:
- Book the replacement before removal
- Tell us about any previous survey
- Send photos of the material and the access
- Tell neighbours if the work is close to their property
Things not to do
Never pressure-wash, sand or cut asbestos.
Never sweep or vacuum asbestos debris.
Prices and what affects them
What drives the price:
- How easy it is to reach
- How many samples are needed
- The type of material and its condition
- Disposal costs
What you pay depends on the job itself: the materials, the amount, access and what paperwork is needed. Every quote is individual.
What to photograph
When you send photos, these help most:
- Any damage, cracks or broken pieces
- A close-up from a safe distance
- Where we could park
- The route in: gates, steps, stairs or the loft hatch
We quote each job individually, because no two are the same. To start, use our quote form or call 07833 053 749.
Limits to be aware of
What’s in and what’s out:
- Replacing what’s removed, such as a roof or ceiling, is typically separate
- Lagging, sprayed coatings and most insulating board are licensed work
- Notifiable work has to be notified before it starts, so the timing needs planning
Not sure what you need? Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Common materials
- Panels and boards
- Artex and textured coatings
- Floor tiles and adhesive
- Water tanks
- Soffits (cement)
- Asbestos cement sheets
- Garage and shed roofs
- Bitumen roof felt
- Gutters and downpipes

What it might be made of
Asbestos cement
Asbestos cement releases fibres when broken or cut, so we unfix and lower it rather than breaking it.
Floor tiles
Vinyl and thermoplastic tiles are lifted whole where possible with hand tools and wetting, never with sanders or grinders.
Other services in Cyprus
Should you do it yourself?
Home testing kits exist, but you have to disturb the material to use one. HSE recommends a competent person takes samples.
Working on a fragile asbestos cement roof is dangerous in itself, as well as an asbestos risk, so never climb onto one.
FAQs for Cyprus
Can you work in Cyprus with London’s parking rules?
We do. Let us know the parking situation and we will plan around it.
Do older homes in Cyprus have asbestos?
Homes built or refitted before 2000 can. The only way to know is to test suspect materials. Garage roofs, Artex, floor tiles, soffits and flues are typical examples.
What does licensed work mean?
Higher-risk materials need an HSE-licensed contractor. Most asbestos cement and textured coatings are non-licensed or notifiable non-licensed.
What’s the difference between a test and a survey?
Testing covers particular materials, while a survey covers everything in scope. For building work, a survey is typically needed.
Can I put asbestos in a skip?
Never: it’s hazardous waste. We take it to a permitted site with paperwork.
Should all asbestos be removed?
Not always. If it’s in good condition and nobody will disturb it, leaving it in place and checking it can be the safer choice.
How dangerous is asbestos?
Breathing in asbestos fibres can cause serious diseases, often decades later. The main risk is from disturbing it, which is why identifying it first matters.
What happens to the waste?
We bag or wrap it, label it and take it to a permitted site, and you receive the consignment note.
The process
Once removal is finished, we clean and check the area, and we talk you through what was done. Unexpected finds are discussed with you first. We plan outdoor jobs in Cyprus to finish before dark: in late December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, while in June it stays light until about 9:20pm.
- Tell us what needs removing and send photos
- If it hasn’t been identified, we sample it first
- We plan the method, controls, waste and any notification, and send a quote
- We remove the material with controls to keep fibres down
- We clean up, dispose of the waste legally and send the consignment note
Preparing for the visit
- Leave the suspect material alone until we arrive
- Mention any damage before we arrive
- Ensure we can get to the area

Responsibilities for owners
If you manage or own a block in Cyprus, the asbestos register for common parts should be kept up to date and shared with contractors, and condition checked regularly.
Before contractors start, they need to know about any asbestos. HSE regularly reminds owners and trades of it.
